Privacy Policy

Last Updated: [DATE]

IndeKnow (“IndeKnow,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) operates the website at https://indeknow.com and the IndeKnow mobile application (the “App”), available on iOS and Android. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have, across both the website and the App.

Who we are

Our website address is: https://indeknow.com. Contact us at [SUPPORT EMAIL] with any privacy questions.

Information We Collect

Account information. When you create an IndeKnow account (on the website or in the App), we collect your name, email address, and password (stored securely; we never store plain-text passwords).

App usage and content data. Through the App, we collect:

  • Your interactions with courses, articles, and modules (progress, completions)
  • Conversations with Harper, our AI-powered coaching feature, which are processed in order to generate responses and may be retained to maintain your conversation history (Pro tier)
  • Basic device and diagnostic information (device type, OS version, crash logs) to keep the App working reliably

Subscription and billing information. If you subscribe to IndeKnow Pro, you’ll be directed from the App to a secure web-based checkout operated by our payment processor, Stripe, to complete your purchase. We do not receive or store your full payment card details — Stripe handles billing directly. See Stripe’s privacy policy at https://stripe.com/privacy for details on how Stripe processes payment information.

Comments (website). When visitors leave comments on the site we collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection. An anonymized string created from your email address (a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to check if you’re using it — see https://automattic.com/privacy/. After a comment is approved, your profile picture is visible publicly alongside it.

Media. If you upload images to the website, avoid embedding location data (EXIF GPS) — visitors can extract location data from images on the site.

Cookies (Website)

If you leave a comment you may opt in to saving your name, email, and website in cookies for convenience; these last one year. Our login page sets a temporary cookie to check whether your browser accepts cookies (no personal data, discarded when you close your browser). Logging in sets cookies to save your login state and display choices — login cookies last two days (two weeks with “Remember Me”), display-option cookies last a year. Editing or publishing an article sets a cookie with no personal data, indicating the post ID, expiring after one day.

Embedded Content (Website)

Articles on the site may include embedded content (videos, images, articles). Embedded content behaves as if you visited the source site directly — it may collect data about you, use cookies, and track your interaction, including if you’re logged in to that other service.

How We Use Your Information

We use the information above to: provide and maintain the App and website; process your subscription and manage entitlements; generate Harper’s responses to you; personalize your course/article experience; maintain account security; respond to support requests; and comply with legal obligations.

Third-Party Service Providers

We share data with the following categories of service providers, solely to operate the App and website:

  • Supabase — authentication and application data storage
  • Stripe — payment processing for Pro subscriptions (via web checkout)
  • Botpress — powers Harper; your messages to Harper are sent to this provider to generate a response
  • Gravatar / Automattic — website comment avatars (see Comments section above)

We do not sell your personal information. We only share data with these providers under contractual terms that limit their use of it to providing services to us.

How Long We Keep Your Data

If you leave a website comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely so we can recognize follow-up comments automatically. If you register an account (website or App), we store the personal information in your profile for as long as your account is active. Harper conversation history is retained for Pro subscribers to support the conversation-history feature, and is deleted when you delete your account.

Your Rights

If you have an account or have left comments, you can request an exported copy of the personal data we hold about you, or request that we erase it. This doesn’t include data we’re legally required to retain.

Account deletion (App). You can permanently delete your App account and associated personal data at any time from within the App: Settings > Account > Delete Account. This is a full deletion, not deactivation, and cannot be undone.

California residents have additional rights under the CCPA, including the right to know, delete, and opt out of the sale of personal information (we do not sell personal information). EU/UK residents have rights under the GDPR, including access, correction, deletion, and portability. To exercise any of these rights, contact us at [email protected].

Children’s Privacy

IndeKnow is not directed to children under 13 (or under 16 where required by local law), and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children in that age range. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us at [email protected] and we will delete it.

Where Your Data Is Sent

Website visitor comments may be checked through an automated spam-detection service. App data is processed by the service providers listed above, which may include processing outside your country of residence.

Security

We use industry-standard measures (encryption in transit, access controls) to protect your data, but no method of transmission or storage is 100% secure.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by an updated “Last Updated” date above, and, where required, notified in-app or by email.
